What is and what should never be...

So today I saw a funny article on the Popular Mechanics website. 25 things a man should know how to do.
While I can think of a few things on the list that I wouldn't necessarily have on such a list, and a few not there that should have been, it was fun. Incidentally, I know how to do all of them, and have actually done all but one. So now we're going to have a little game, the winner of which will get a prize, determined by me when I see who wins. The game will consist of 3 questions.

1. Name the thing on the list (there's only 1 of the 25) that I haven't actually done.
2. The picture above is a screenshot of one of the items. There is something seriously wrong with it. Name what that wrong thing is.
3. What is the significance of the title of this post?

You may post your answers in comments, as I'm not the best blog keeper-upper in the world. Good luck.

this is WAY too hard for me - you need to have easier games, FBIL....like spot the iBook in Bourne movies and the like.
but I will give it a shot none the less....

first of all, that picture is hilarious.

now, on the the questions. i'm going to kick butt, by the way.

1. hmmm...it's a toss-up between sharpening a knife, backing up data and fixing a bike flat. hehe. come on, al. at least give me a challenge. i successfully narrowed it down to either rescuing someone from a capsized boat (i don't think you've spent too much time on the open sea), performing cpr (i'm sure you know how but i don't recall any stories of you actually using your skills), and hooking up a hdtv (i don't doubt for a second that you could do this, but we haven't had a ton of access to these lately). so here's my final answer: the boat thing.

2. that computer is a mac, but the luminous apple has been photoshopped out for the picture.

3. it's undoubtedly some dorky tolkein reference.

Well, Nicole is the first one to answer, and while I won't post her answers for fear of cheating, I will say that she got 1 point mostly correct. I will give her the benefit of the doubt and a score of 1. Who's next???

I stand chastised and corrected. 1.33 points for Nicole.

total guess:
1. perform cpr, completely and correctly.
2. Holding his lap top incorrectly
3.no clue

And Insanity weighs in with a total of 1 point. (Only one of the questions is good for partial credit). Come on everyone else, lets have some competition here...

I think the thing you haven't done is real CPR that's different than knowing how. (maybe backing a trailer, we never had one when you were at home) The picture has a guy with a MAC, (they air brushed the computer lid), their security is very good I think, secondly he's using wireless, it's much harder to hack a wired connection. And its funny that a person hacking you computer or system would dress out of the ordinary and draw the attention of others around them. I think the title means that it's amazing how many people are really unprepared for life. (which shouldn't be, but is reality) Thanks for the fun visit and mental exercise.

And my Dad comes in with a whopping 1.5 points.

alright - though I really do deserve more help than I'm getting, I will strive to answer correctly.

1. I'm going with the CPR one.
2. the way the guy is holding his laptop and typing...i know, it's a long shot.
3. the significance of the title is that it's a reference from LOTR.

And Mari gets a solid 1 point. When she finds out how close she was to some partial credit she'll be tearing out some hair...

This is a hard game...

Question 1 - #25 setting up a wireless network in your house

Question 2 - picture infers that the PERSON is the "virus" or bad guy that you should be protecting your computer from

Question 3 - The fact that you, as a 'puter nerd, has never set up the wireless network in your house, and that should not be.

Three guesses, for sure!!

A valiant effort by Hen, and if her assumption had been correct, she would have had a case for 2 points; however, her assumption was incorrect. Better luck next time, Hen.

Just a couple more people have to send me their answers, and I'll post the results.

1-hook up HDTV
2-it's a mac and therefore is impenetrable?
3-???

Ok, I finally read it. 1. I'm guessing either fillet a fish or perform cpr on a person.
2. It isn't an apple computer.
3. As for the significance, hmmm.. Is it the fact that some of the things on that list had to be explained? :>) And that most people don't use macs and should.... :>)

So, my Mom comes in at 1.33 points (I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt on a typo).

Bob comes in at 1 point even. That's about everyone I know that would participate, so I'll post the results and everyone's answers tomorrow...
